Multiplayer games on a school Chromebook

Weekly Arcade has three multiplayer browser games that run in Chrome on a Chromebook: Doodle Dash (draw-and-guess, up to 30 players), Chess 3D (online or against the AI) and Drift Legends (racing). They are free, ad-free and need no download. They do need a network connection - none of the three is in the offline list. Whether they load on your school network depends on your school's settings, and we do not promise access.

The three multiplayer games

Doodle Dash

A party draw-and-guess game. Private rooms take 2 to 30 players, including the host: create a room, share the code, and everyone joins from their own Chromebook. Speed Draw mode has every player draw the same word at once for 60 seconds, then vote on the results.

Chess 3D

Full-rules chess on a 3D board you can rotate. Play a friend online with a private game code, or play the AI at four levels (600, 1100, 1500 and 1900 Elo). Works with a mouse, trackpad or touchscreen.

Drift Legends

3D arcade racing across five worlds. Online races are for two players: create a room and share the code, join a friend's code, or use Quick Match. Heavier than the puzzle games, but still HTML5 in the browser.

Two-player and classmate alternatives

Not all of these are realtime multiplayer. If live multiplayer does not load on your network, take turns on one device or compare scores across two:

  • Wordcrest - everyone gets the same daily word, so compare how many guesses it took.
  • Fairway Nine - the same nine holes for every player each day; compare strokes.
  • 2048 - take turns and see who gets the higher tile.
  • Stack Tower - one-tap rounds that are quick to hand over.

School-safe notes

  • No ads and no purchases in any of the three.
  • The catalogue is family-friendly; see the Games for school Chromebook guide.
  • Doodle Dash shows player drawings and names to everyone in the room, so it is worth agreeing classroom norms before a group game.
  • Follow your school's acceptable-use policy. This page does not help anyone get around school filters.

Frequently asked questions

On Weekly Arcade: Doodle Dash, Chess 3D and Drift Legends - when your network allows the site.

Do I need to download anything?

No. All three run in Chrome as web pages, with nothing to install.

Do they work offline?

No. Multiplayer needs a live connection. For single-player games that work with no Wi-Fi, see Offline games for Chromebook.

Are they free and ad-free?
