Decisions that outlast the turn

What links these is that the interesting choice is rarely the one in front of you. Scarwrit is a deckbuilder whose cards keep a record - win with a card and it upgrades, die holding it and it scars - so the deck you finish a run with is a history of how you played, not a build you selected. Gearloom asks you to wire adjacent parts into a compounding machine, where the value of a placement is entirely about what it lets you place next. Fieldstone hides a kingdom-builder inside a falling-block board: you have ten tiles a round and then an attack phase checks whether the board you built for economy can also hold. Chess 3D is the classical case, with an engine calibrated at four real Elo targets.

Runs, not campaigns

Almost everything here is run-based rather than a long save. A Scarwrit or Solitaire Roguelite run has a beginning and an end and takes one sitting, so the strategy is legible: you can see which choice lost you the run rather than tracing it back through six hours. Solitaire Roguelite puts a ten-minute timer on the whole run deliberately, which stops a hard Klondike deal from becoming an unbounded search and makes banking a partial score a real option. Nothing here has meta-progression that makes later attempts easier, so a better run is a better decision rather than a bigger number.

Strategy Games FAQ

Are these strategy games free?

Yes. Every strategy game here is free in the browser with no downloads, no ads and no purchases. Nothing is gated behind payment and there is no premium currency anywhere on the site.

How long does a strategy game run take?

One sitting. Solitaire Roguelite caps a run at ten minutes by design. Scarwrit and Gearloom runs typically go fifteen to thirty. Chess 3D is as long as the game lasts. None of them requires you to come back tomorrow to finish what you started.

What is a deckbuilder roguelite?

A game where you build a deck of cards during a single run rather than before it, and the run ends permanently when you lose. Scarwrit adds a twist: cards remember outcomes, upgrading when they win a fight and scarring when you die holding them, so your deck records what happened to it.

Do I need to know chess to play Chess 3D?

No. The AI has four levels set at 600, 1100, 1500 and 1900 Elo, and 600 is a genuine beginner opponent rather than a hard engine playing badly. Legal moves are highlighted when you select a piece, so the rules are shown rather than assumed.

Do strategy games save my progress?

Runs are designed to be completed in one sitting, so there is no long campaign save to lose. Signed-in players keep achievements, leaderboard history and any persistent unlocks across devices; anonymous players keep them in that browser only.
