Smash asteroids. Upgrade. Go deeper.
Play Voidbreak free online. Smash asteroids, upgrade your ship, go deeper. Modern Asteroids roguelite with upgrades and leaderboards. No download required.
Fly the ship with thrust and rotation, and shoot to break asteroids into smaller ones until they are gone. Clearing a wave offers an upgrade draft: pick one from the pool of twenty-six, split into ten weapons, ten passives and six score modifiers across common, rare and epic rarities. Upgrades persist for the rest of the run and stack with each other. Colliding with an asteroid costs a life, and lives cap at five. Some upgrades are trades - Risk/Reward takes a life immediately in exchange for triple score for the entire run - so the draft is a real decision rather than a reward. The run continues until you are out of lives.
Voidbreak is a wave-based space shooter with a roguelite upgrade draft: you break asteroids, survive waves, and pick one upgrade at a time from a pool of twenty-six that is deep enough for runs to diverge sharply. Ten are weapons, from Spread Shot and Rapid Fire at common up to Twin Cannons and a one-use Nuke at epic. Ten are passives, covering movement, survivability and the odd structural change - Ghost Mode lets you pass through one asteroid per wave, Armor Plating absorbs the first hit of each wave entirely, Shield Regen returns a hit point after three waves without dying. Six are pure score modifiers, and they are where the interesting decisions are, because several of them are trades rather than gifts. Risk/Reward gives triple score for the whole run in exchange for a life, taken immediately. Perfect Wave doubles a wave's score if you take no damage in it, which changes how you play rather than what you have. Double Points is worth exactly one wave. Lives cap at five. The build you finish with is the sequence of choices you made under pressure, and a run where the epic weapons never appeared is a genuinely different game from one where they did.

Twenty-six, drafted one at a time between waves: ten weapons, ten passives and six score modifiers, across common, rare and epic rarities. They persist for the rest of the run and stack, so the build you finish with is the sequence of choices you made.
It depends on when you are offered them. Risk/Reward gives triple score for the whole run for one life, so it is excellent on wave two and poor on wave twenty. Armor Plating and Ghost Mode stack into two absorbed mistakes per wave. The Nuke is a single use for the entire run.
Lives cap at five. Extra Life adds one immediately up to that cap, which is why drafting it at four lives wastes most of its value. Risk/Reward removes one immediately as the cost of its score multiplier.
Yes, in the run-based drafting sense: each run starts fresh, upgrades are offered as choices between waves rather than bought or unlocked, and the pool is large enough that two runs diverge quickly. There is no meta-progression that makes later runs easier.
It doubles the score for a wave in which you take no damage at all. That makes it a behavioural upgrade rather than a stat one - it is worth the most early, while waves are still survivable cleanly, and close to nothing once you are surviving on the last hit point.
